I feel that clay's transformative nature lies in its adaptability, allowing me to push the boundaries of my creativity and produce art that is both visually and conceptually engaging. In essence, the malleability of clay serves as a symbolic representation of the adaptable nature of myself as an artist, emphasizing inherent qualities such as flexibility, resilience, versatility, and the acceptance of change. The pliability of clay allows me to capture and convey movement, emotion, and expression in a way that feels alive and dynamic. When I sculpt with clay, I feel as if I can freeze a moment in time, preserving the energy and essence of a gesture expressed in that moment. Incorporating textiles and metal into my sculptural ceramic work has become a new area of exploration related to my studies of the ontology of being.
